When the invasion of Iraq was underway in full force and things were just starting to go south, a popular refrain among people that I met was the following: 'Let our boys finish what they started', which I thought was a callous and flippant response. A similar situation unfolds today with Russia riding shotgun over Georgia. I wonder how many people would say things like 'Let the ruskie boys finish what they started' in reference to this conflict that is slowly starting to mirror the quagmire in Iraq.

Good point. I wrote a bit about this on my blog, too. I don't think anyone's perfect or innocent in this situation but the media, as usual, is not giving the full story.

Problem is our boys didn't start anything, our boys service was abused for a political agenda.

As a mother of a veteran I totally agree it is a very callous and flippant response. But then I have been quite appalled at the so called support for our troops when looking at the reality (veteran benefits, lack of proper equipement, stop loss, extended tours of duty etc etc).

Tree,
The media never gives us the full story. It was clear that Geirgia attacked first...

Corrine,
Agree with you 100%...

Our 20 year old cousin is in Iraq at this point in time. To us, he is still a baby. But hey, he is over there fighting a war over which he has no say/opinion/control over.
