Rime

the skin crackles,
moulting onion,
blisters clotted
from raw understudies.

prickly sparks,
senescent spikes,
shards and carmine
scarred and slough.

tautness disturbed,
flecks stand grey,
twisted sheddings
and fungible clusters.

anxiety flutters
on slender winds,
dulcet rhymes
of better climes.
